Interpreting Signing Error Messages in S60 3rd Edition
It seems the new security feature in Symbian 9 has led to frustration for some developers. I would like to share what kind of error messages I have seen when installing signed/unsigned application in S60 3rd Edition phones. There is a hint that explains what may cause a particular message
Error msg: Certificate error. Contact the application supplier.
Cause: You may have tried installing unsigned application. Note that signing is mandatory S60 3rd Edition.
Solution: Use our self sighning tool to get rid of this message and install the software succesfully
Error msg: Required application access not granted
Check that your certificate can be used to sign all capabilities needed by your application. For example, if you use self-signed certificate, you can only sign basic set capabilities, i.e. NetworkServices, ReadUserData, WriteUserData, LocalServices and UserEnvironment. If your application requires one of the extended capabilities, for example SwEvent, you cannot sign it with self-signed certificate. In this case, apply for developer certificates from Symbian Signed.
Error msg: Unable to install a protected application from an untrusted supplier.
If you use self-signed certificate, make sure that your application uses unprotected UID, i.e. 0xA0000000 - 0xAFFFFFFF. If you use protected UID (0x20000000 - 0x2FFFFFFF) or legacy UID (0x10000000 - 0x1FFFFFFF), you will get this message.

An evolution in pet games.
It's strange that a brand having a menagerie of animals took so long to step into the pet game genre. It may have taken them a while but they have done a great job.
Disney Dogs is unlike the usual pet games and has a bit more substance to it. For starters, the game has a definitive aim for you to reach. As cute as the graphics are in some of these pet games, I could never see myself feeding and petting my virtual pet forever. Disney Dogs gives you a reason to care; look after your dog and win the mini games and become 'top dog'. Grooming and caring is an essential aspect but has been placed on the second shelf in a game which has more focus on the mini games and the underlying aim. This approach should appeal to a wider audience; even this pet hating Greek quite liked it.
Disney Dogs is set in the world of Mickey Mouse and his friends and obviously their pets. Minnie, Pluto and Butch are all present but thankfully no ducks. As you might expect, the 2D graphics and characters are well drawn (although some of the animation of the dogs walking is a bit off).
There are four dogs to choose from, each with their owners and houses. The houses are there for the grooming and here you will find the fridge, the sleeping mat and the bucket of water. There is no pet store, no vet, no special dietary supplements or doggie chocolate. When the dog is hungry, feed it. When it is dirty, wash it. As long as you show it some affection and let it sleep now and again, your dog will be happy. Most of the chores have been designed into very basic minigames. For example, when it is time for the feed, you have to control your dog and nudge the bowl to catch the food.
Most of the action in Disney Dogs happens in the park where you compete against the other dogs to earn some respect and be 'top dog'. There are 9 different games on offer and you wonder if this is a pet game or a mini game application with a pet flavour.
The game starts you off with the basics of pet care and also unravels the love triangle/square between the other dogs and sets the scene for the rest of the game. As you progress, options are unlocked and you have the choice of playing as the other dogs. Disney Mobile promises upto 8 hours of gameplay if you want to complete the game with all the characters.

The GV Mobile application ties directly into your phones address
book for both dialing and sending SMS messages. (SMS messages
available on the premium version only). The one shortcoming Ive
seen on the SMS feature is that you cant send a text to multiple
parties at once. However, it appears that way on the gvoice website
as well, so that may be more of a shortcoming of gvoice than this
application.

Nokia N97
The Nokia N97 is the tip of the spear in Nokia's smartphone lineup. It is the most powerful, smartest and fully featured phone of the company. It is also the first Nokia phone to make use of a large touch-display and that alone has raised the expectations from die hard Nokia fans that have refused to switch over to the iPhone. And Nokia has put quite a lot of work and thought in the N97. I had a first look when Nokia was still developing the N97 and I was looking forward to get my hands on the final product. In this review, I will tell you how I used it, and how well it did. Does the Nokia N97 live up to the hype?
Rushing a review is great to get links, but not the best way to get a good feel for something, so I used the Nokia N97 for a few weeks, mainly as a smartphone with Exchange support. Web browsing was tested regularly to read news and check various sites. Facebook was accessed via the Facebook application included in the phone.

For many things (but not all), the Nokia N97 can be used as a pure touch phone. The company has done an "ok job" on the tactile user interface. It's mostly intuitive, except for the setup menus (I question their logic). Nokia uses a double-tap system to avoid accidental clicks vs. drag interpretations (see video). For example, in the menu, if I want to go to my contacts, I need to click once to select "contacts", then click a second time to actually launch the application. Depending on your tastes this can be great or annoying.
Homepage Widget (Well Implemented)
Widgets are popular these days. Samsung and Sony Ericsson (Xperia) are big believers of Widgets, but the N97 has the best homepage widgets implementation that I have seen so far. On many phones, widgets are messy (like the OMNIA), but Nokia has done a good job at maximizing the use of screen space. I like the default homepage that includes Facebook, but I noticed that the widget was often out of sync with the real-time content (this is true for Exchange as well). That should be fixed. It would also be nice if we could interact with the widgets directly from the homepage, like updating a Facebook status or a Tweet from the homepage.

LoudSpeaker application works as your car wireless hands free set without any additional hardware. After software installation you will be able to use it immediately instead of your Bluetooth Headset.
LoudSpeaker answers your call automatically and turns on the Loudspeaker.
The software is fully customizable. You can choose the profile, when the software should be activated and answer your incoming calls.
You can set your own sound on answer and sound on hang up from the list of available tunes on your phone.
You should also set the pause (amount of seconds) after which the incoming call should be accepted automatically.
